He had been an active man in here and neighbouring parishes, and for some years a tax collector, and assistant overseer, and he was well-known throughout the district. He was much respected by all who knew him. He was staunch in his political principles, as a Liberal, and had rendered good service to his party, but his character was such that he commanded the esteem of all parties.
